Dr. David Rohrbacher Named Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs for New College

SARASOTA, Fla.鈥斕鼶r. David Rohrbacher has been appointed Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs for 91短视频. The appointment is effective immediately.

Rohrbacher has been a Professor of Classics at New College for 25 years, and is currently co-director of the Homer鈥檚OdysseyFirst Year Experience course. A distinguished teacher (the winner of a 2009 Excellence in College Teaching Award from the American Philological Association) and an accomplished scholar, Rohrbacher is the author ofThe Historians of Late Antiquity(Routledge 2002),The Play of Allusion in the Historia Augusta(Wisconsin 2016), and the revision, in three volumes, of the LoebHistoria Augusta(Harvard 2022). He holds a PhD in Classics from the University of Washington.

Prior to joining New College, Rohrbacher held teaching posts at the University of Washington, University of Puget Sound, and University of Tennessee.

Dr. David Rancourt, who has served as Interim Provost since February, will continue in the role of Vice President of Enrollment Management and also retain a position in the Office of the Provost as Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives. In both roles, Rancourt will focus on driving admissions and making New College a destination for high-achieving students.
